Researchers closely monitored some 200,000 individuals, watching what they drank and whether or not they developed kidney stones. What they found was surprising to say the least. Those who drank beer, yet the deliciously frothy beverage we all know and love, experienced significantly lower rates of developing kidney stones. Of course, the study also revealed how other beverages affect an individual’s risk of developing kidney stones. For instance, those who drank sugary soft drinks were 23% more likely to develop a kidney stone. Coffee and tea also contributed to lower rates of kidney stones, but not as much as beer.
