evilernie... Here's a quick and easy rum recipe for us beginners....

"Real" Caribbean rum is usually made from either molasses or cane juice... but here's an easy almost-the-same-as "real" rum recipe for you..... I did it last summer and it worked fine.

I simply used Al's vol1 sugar recipe but I substituted brown sugar for the white. I also used lemon juice instead of tomato paste... and, just for kicks, I added a half a bottle of molasses. Everything else exactly the same, including ec1118. It worked fine!

(The difference between white and brown sugar is that the brown does not have all the molasses removed and white does)

Al, from your biggest fan here in Cali. I must suggest you cover different types of stills and how to properly use them, go through how to carbon filter and maybe a home made version update. Different fruit additives, mashes, etc. Whatever you come up with I'm sure we will love it.

Wow you are right on with that recipe GA Shine, Its bubbling up like Als first recipe on the first day!! Had to water it down slighty to 13 potential it was 15, but shes cookin up real nice!

There's a brand of rum... I think it's either Mount Gay or Cruzan,I'm unsure, that is not crystal clear; it has a slight, faint tint to it.

That's the same color of the liquid I got after distilling. I didn't have a way to measure potential... I just let it go for 2 weeks and it came out good. (2 times). One my third run of this I got a little too greedy and ran too long; I got some of the nasties. That's ok though... I saved it and I'm going to add it in with my next batch and distill it again.

Has production of Vol 3 started yet? Hope so hehe!! Cant wait
